Meet the Team

We are often asked how our team of midwives works at San Diego Midwife.

To be able to best serve you and to have a sustainable lifestyle from being on call 24/7, we work as a team of midwives at San Diego Midwife. You will get to know your midwives very well at each appointment but we do not assign midwives per birth or individual. You are always guaranteed one midwife and one birth assistant at your birth although we love to attend births all together as a whole team as often as we can!

Peggy Vetter

Peggy Vetter, LM, CLD, LCCE

Born and raised in Berlin, Germany, Peggy's journey to midwifery began at a young age when she whispered to her mother, "I'm going to be a midwife when I grow up" upon her younger sister's birth. After initially pursuing a different path, her calling was reignited when she became a mother herself.

Peggy's formal midwifery education started in 2007, following an apprenticeship in a renowned Berlin hospital's labor and delivery room. She holds a midwifery diploma from 2011 and is a firm advocate for informed consent throughout the birthing process. In 2015, Peggy made a significant move to California, leaving behind her German midwifery license but embracing a new chapter in her journey. She gave birth to her fourth child in 2018, a cherished experience supported by local midwives through private midwife care having a home birth.

Peggy's extensive credentials include being a certified CAPPA birth doula, DONA trained postpartum doula, certified Lamaze childbirth educator, a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, and a licensed Midwife in Washington State and California. Peggy's passion for midwifery and her commitment to maternal and child well-being drive her work, and she is dedicated to serving the Southern California community. Her story is one of resilience, passion, and a deep love for her chosen path. She lives in Carlsbad together with her 4 children and her husband.
